Also, there was a random shout out to Tumblr in the BroNYCon documentary. Plus, in case you didn’t know, there are three main flavors of Bronies: the Moderates (those who like-slash-lurve MLP, but aren’t, you know, obsessed and stuff), the Hipsters (those who started watching MLP “ironically,” then got hooked for realz), and the Creatives (those who make fan art and shizz). Apparently, some female Bronies like to be called PegaSisters.

I think they missed an entire category of Bronies: the Adjacents (those of us who live with obsessed Bronies and ended up becoming accidental Bronies).

Remember last summer when the Busy-Lazy boys went to BroNYCon? Turns out we can relive all of the magical moments by watching Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony. I got an advanced peek at the documentary because we donated to the Kickstarter fund for the project.
You know what? The doc is pretty good! In fact, it gave me a greater appreciation of having experienced the event with the boy and busy daddy, even though I was sort of skeptical at the time. I guess I was skeptical because I’m afraid of everypony.
On the train ride home tonight, I was minding my own beeswax, watching the BroNYCon documentary on my iPad, when all of the sudden I spied a grumpy old man waiting in the BroNYCon preregistration line. And I was all, What’s that grumpy old man doing in line with all of those happy, chillaxed Bronies? And then I was all, Wait, that grumpy old man is me.
Whatevs.
If you’re a Brony or know a Brony, I highly recommend this terrific documentary. I’m talking to you, Hobo. Plus, if you watch until the very end, you’ll see the boy’s name (as one of the donors) in the closing credits.

BronyCon2012 Final Thoughts:

  • I ended up spending way too much money on a bunch of useless crap. But, in the end, the Busy-Lazy boys had fun at BronyCon. And at least we got to support the cause, whatever it is.
  • I’m afraid of people. Especially people dressed in bright colors and stuff.
  • There was really no reason to be afraid, though. People were really nice, even if they looked like freaks cartoon characters.
  • It’s not fair for me to make fun of them, which, really, I don’t mean to. The cosplayers were like scary club kidz performance artists. Wearing fleece hats and wings. And faux-fur tails and such.
  • We really did have front-row seats for the John de Lancie Q&A. It was pretty neat! Although busy daddy said that given our proximity to the stage and the cameras, he fears we’ll be in BronyCon: The Documentary. Whatevs.
  • The boy’s absolute favorite purchases at BronyCon were a fleece Storm Trooper hat and a Star Wars badge. Did I mention that we went to BronyCon and not a Star Wars convention?
  • I think I’ve had my fill of MLP for a long while, thank you very much.

Lazy dad was too lazy to write up a post about day two of BronyCon, so he demanded nicely asked me to provide my thoughts on the event. Here goes…

Since busy daddy was, well, busy this afternoon, I flew solo and took the boy and his pal Ben to BronyCon by myself. Since we’ll be going back to BronyCon with busy daddy tomorrow and I don’t want to bias his opinion about the event, I recommended to him that he should probably wait until tomorrow to read this post.
