I don’t know what it is about boys and holes, but Eddie K and the boy spent virtually the entire time we were on the beach digging a giant hole in the sand, right by the edge of the water. Here’s the thing: when you dig a giant hole right by the edge of the water, it inevitably gets filled with water as the tide rolls in.

Hole digging in the sand is a thankless, Sisyphean task, but at least it occupied the boys for a good couple of hours. Plus, they got some help from a pair of lovely little girls.

  1. electradaddy said: Make sure it stays just a shallow hole & doesnt become a trench. Growing up at the beach, I’ve seen the dangers of cave-ins.
